How did the idea for the plot come about?

FORBIDDEN ETERNITY was a story in my Time Guardian series. Cochise evolved from a secondary character in a group of Time-Guardian cadets protecting history in Scotland. He's a cadet himself. Although, he fancies himself quite capable. Wouldn't you if you looked that scrumptious? Anyhow, my first love has always been Native Americans--that's before bagpipes! FORBIDDEN ETERNITY is bagpipes, Native Americans, Scotland, fairies, shape shifting, and time travel.


I love sale stories (ok I am just nosy!!) so can you tell us about your road to publication - and your call story?

I had been writing over 5 years, had quit graduate school (bioarchaeology) to feed the writing-bug's ravenous appetite, when I found myself at home with my 1-yr old. Trying to sell a terribly cross-genre fantasy romance series just wasn't working for me. But I'm hard-headed and wouldn't just go with the general consensus on what the term "weird" defined. Oy! I decided to throw in the writing towel when another author (with my publisher) encouraged me to query The Wild Rose Press. I found my novel HE OF THE FIERY SWORD was one of the few stories the WRP dark paranormal editor contracted at the time. Things have picked up since with the Black Rose line. And, to make a long story short, I jumped up and down quite a bit, then went to work on two websites. http://www.timeguardians.com/ & http://www.skhyemoncrief.com/ My hair pulling ended. Lastly on my list are the tough Viking types in THIRTEENTH WARRIOR. Since I could actually go on forever, let me see if I can be more specific. My favorite romance is Jennifer Roberson's LADY OF THE GLEN. Karen M. Moning's work is wonderful. And the world's been known to stop when I get ahold of a Dark Hunter novel. My all-time favorite hero is Christine Feehan's hero in MIND GAMES. I don't know why. We just meshed. (Lucky guy!) I have a deep appreciation for Jane Austen. Pride & Prejudice with Colin Firth is perfection. And there is a soft spot in my heart for Ciaran Hinds. It must be because of JANE EYRE & PERSUASION. But in Anthropology Through Literature, I was a firm believer that even a wealthy man is victimized by the culture of his day. ;) Look at all those money-grubbing women out to marry him!


What are you working on now?

I'm working on a werewolf space opera. People usually reply "huh?" when I spout that subject. So, let's just say we're talking about psychic warfare and werewolves. The rest is top secret. I'm dying to write a dragon-hunter tale. But I must finish the space opera first. :( I just don't understand why life is torturing me!

Night Owl Romance 4.5 Hearts

I've had two reviews this week for Touch of the Demon which really brightened my day! The first is from Night Owl Romance where Dianna had this to say:

Touch of the Demon is an extremely spicy novella. Short in length but full to the brim with enough hot and spicy passion to make you want your fan running on high while you are reading it. Battlestar Galactica Revisited

It's a closely guarded secret, but I've a bit of thing going on with the whole BSG universe. Happily for me, the lovely Eleni is also a slight fan-girl on the quiet and has a fabulous

post on her blog - however if you haven't yet seen the final half of Series 4 then be warned there are spoilers ahead!!!

I think Series 4.5 is coming out on DVD round about 21st April. I don't know if that means it will also be available in Australia, I bloody hope so!!!

Lights Out - Ann Campbell

Please welcome my special guest today, The Wild Rose Press author Ann Campbell, whose debut novella, Lights Out, was recently released through the Scarlet Rose Line.


Born and raised in Texas, Ann spent a few years after high school working in other states. She trained race horses in Oklahoma, worked for a hotel in New Mexico and on a guest ranch in Colorado before returning home and finding the love of her life. Married with two children, she spends her days chasing the baby, feeding the zoo that lives on thier 11 acres and trying to squeeze in the time to write.

Can you tell us a little about your book?

It is just a short little story about two friends who have been fighting their attraction for each other and finally find the right moment to come together. It takes place in the Colorado Rockies during a january snow storm. Yumm! what better way to stay warm than with a hot stud :)

How did the idea for the plot come about?

I worked on a Guest Ranch in the Colorado Rockies for awhile. One of my co-workers was a super studly, very sexy melt in your mouth kind of guy. We were friends and did a lot of things together but he had a girlfriend and made it clear to me he would never cheat on her even if he did want to help me take care of a problem :) We are still very good friends and have talked occasionally about the what if's.

I love sale stories (ok I am just nosy!!) so can you tell us about your road to publication - and your call story?

When I first started writing I was working on a story I still have not finished. I decided that for a first submission, it might be better to sub something small. SO, I spend a whopping 6 hours and wrote LIGHTS OUT, sent it to a friend to read and she loved it. So I sent it to TWRP. Then I got a contract.

I LOVE the Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. as far as TV since I don't get cable in the sticks I have a thing for House and Bones. There is just something about Dr House and Agent Booth that I find VERy sexy

What are you working on now?

LOL I have 8 stories sitting on my desktop right now. all of them at various stages of completion. I kinda bounce from one to another depending on the day and what my muse tells me to do.

How can readers keep up with your writing and books?

Always check my web site. I have lots of fun things there and I am always adding new stuff There is a really cool contest going on RIGHT NOW but it only lasts until the end of the month. It is a very easy scavanger hunt and the prize is super hot! Go check it out and have lots of fun!

How did the idea for the plot come about?

I have no earthly idea. Sometimes it's snippets in a dream, sometime it starts with a sentence beginning with "What if.." Since I write in several different genres under three names, I can get my ideas from anywhere and twist them to my pleasure. I'm also a documentary junkie. I love them. I don't care if they're about frozen wastelands on distant planets, or the mating cycle of the dung beetle, I'll watch it. I have such varied interests and have a life-long love off all thing paranormal or strange or considered occult. That interest makes for some interesting plot lines no matter the backdrop of the story. Though I will admit that Kingmaker's Gold was written specifically for St. Patrick's Day so I had that criteria when I fashioned the idea. When I saw that as one of the holidays for special stories at the Wild Rose Press, I knew I had to do it. Christmas, Halloween and Valentine's Day are usually the big ones that romance writers do special stories for - but my long forgotten Irish ancestors called to me from somewhere in my blood and I thought it was a perfect holiday to come up with a historical paranormal. There is a sequel to it in the works. The villian wouldn't let me alone until I told his story.

A Hot Day In Heaven just kind of evolved as I wrote it. I'm generally a plotter, but every once in a while a story will write itself. This was one of them. I started out on the first line with a snowy day in New York and the words just started spilling out with no idea where I was going or what I was doing with them. But I think the end result is worth the effort. And I just sold the second book in that series to Wild Rose/Scarlet Rose titled, Hotter Than Hell. As for Paramatch.com, that's one of those stories where you read one by your favorite author and you're like, "I wonder if I could do a story with that type of character." For me, it was a Susan Elizabeth Phillips novel, Match Me If You Can. (I love Susan - to me, she's a goddess!) And though I loved that book so much, I knew I didn't want to do a contemporary matchmaker unless there was a really great twist. Bring on Lucilla Wainwright, a talentless witch who has to make her way in the world using old-fashioned ingenuity and a dynamite computer software program. When I knew that, the opening scene pretty much came to me in a flash and I knew Lucilla as if we'd been friends for years.


I love sale stories (ok I am just nosy!!) so can you tell us about your road to publication - and your call story?

It's been filled with potholes and rakes (not the luscious hero-type, but the garden implement variety.) I really started writing for publication about 14 years ago or so. My sights were set on becoming the next Mercedes Lackey, but I never got a bite with any of my fantasy novels, though I do have some rather loverly rejection letters. I stepped back, reevaluated my goals. I've always loved romance, since the first time I held a copy of my mother's Barbara Cartland in my hand. *sigh* And truthfully, my fantasy had a lot of romanctic undertones. Everyone had a love interest, or was involved in a love triangle of some sort. I decided to write where my love was and began to hone my craft in romance. However, me being me, I can't do anything straight forward, so my first romance novel was a romantic suspense with a paranormal twist dealing with near-death experiences. It was plum awful. After many years of sitting under the bed (or in this case a box in my basement) for many years, I decided to streamline characters cut the beginning and start mid-action and start from the first word on a rewrite. During this time, I had gone back to college after being out for...well, we won't say how long...and worked on my degree in English with a writing concentration. I'd already learned so much on my own, but those classes gave me the extra push I needed to begin sending my work out again. I'd received a freebie copy of one of Red Sage's Secrets anthologies from an NJRW conference and one night when I didn't have time to start reading a novel, I plowed through that book as if it were the last one I was ever allowed to read. Amazed and bewildered (would I ever attain such professionalism in my prose?) at the high standard set by Red Sage's authors, I was bound and determind to write for them. I had a futuristic story about computers who not only run the government, but have become the government. I hadn't finished it and thought if I built up the romance, upped the sexual tension and made it more graphic, I might have a shot. I'll be damned if I didn't sell that sucker on the first go. Fatal Error appears in Secrets Volume 17 Erotic Nights. I remember the call very well. My husband, Dave, and I were sitting in the living room preparing to watch our taped episode of Battlestar Galactica when the phone rang. I don't remember much after that but dancing around the kitchen and my husband giving me a hug that cracked a rib. We were both pretty excited! And you know what? I still get just as excited when I sell a book, though hubby just gives me a gentle kiss and a normal hug now.

Well, just about anything that has a sci-fi bent to it will get me to watch. Also, CSI shows, both documentary style and the fictional type. Cold case shows, City Confidentail, American Justice. Books, I have so many favorite authors I wouldn't be able to list them all here. I read a variety of genres, but mostly romance and it's sub-genres. Though I have found romantic elements in just about every book I've picked up randomly at the library.


What are you working on now?

At any one time I work on about 5-7 books. I'm weird that way. It helps to keep me from getting writer's block. If I get stuck somewhere, I will pull up the next file and get to work. It makes me feel productive while I'm trying to work out the problem that got me stuck in the first place.

“I’ll beg you for nothing.” It was a lie. If Celeste thought begging could get her anywhere, then she would already be on her knees before him. She kept that knowledge locked deep in her heart.

Rafe took a step toward her and her heart hammered in her breast. He was taller than any human she had known over the years. But then, he wasn’t human. Beneath the long leather coat he wore against the night’s chill air, his broad shoulders all but blotted out the rest of the world.

She sucked in a suddenly panicked breath, and his evocative scent of other worldly essences, meshed with hot, heavy male enveloped her. Against every principle she stood for, her nipples strained against the fabric of her bodice, peaking with desire and disgust and pure, animal heat.

A mocking smile twisted his full sensual lips. “I could make you beg, human.” His finger traced the outline of her face and she shuddered, hating the way she reacted and yet unable to help herself. “I might even listen to your pleas.” His smoky whisper shimmered along her senses, searing with words unsaid.

Zombie Queen of Newbury High - Amanda Ashby

My special guest today is my fabulous CP and fellow Witch, Amanda Ashby, who's celebrating the release of her debut Young Adult novel, Zombie Queen of Newbury High.

Amanda Ashby was born in Australia and has spent the last ten years dividing her time between England and New Zealand. When she’s not moving countries, she likes to write books (okay, she also likes to watch television, eat chocolate and sit around doing not much, but let's just keep that between ourselves, shall we?). She has a degree in English and Journalism from the University of Queensland and is married with two young children. Can you tell us a little about your book?

ZOMBIE QUEEN OF NEWBURY HIGH is the story of what happens when a teenage girl tries to do a love spell to stop her prom date from dumping her but instead she accidentally turns the entire senior year into flesh-eating zombies (seriously, it could've happened to anyone). Then she is forced to work with a do-it-by-the-book zombie hunter hottie to try and find a cure before she ends up being first course in an all-you-can-eat-buffet.


We're dying to know, how did the idea for the plot come about?

Well, Christina, like you I am a very deep thinker, so obviously the idea didn't come about because I thought the word 'zombie' was funny. Nor did it come about because I use to jokingly threaten my cps that if all else failed I could always write a book called, 'I Was a Killer Zombie Bride' because either of those reasons would make me come across as silly and a perhaps a little bit shallow. Er, so how about we move onto the next question?

I love sale stories (ok I am just nosy!!) so can you tell us about your road to publication - and your call story?

You say road, I say long and winding stone track that was filled with potholes and large immovable objects in the way!!!! Basically I had been writing for about six years (okay, so longer than that but the other manuscripts were so bad that I really can't count them!). Anyway, I knew I was getting closer, but I still couldn't break through.

Then in 2005 my father died. I was living in England at the time and I had to fly back to Australia for the funeral (had I mentioned that I'd just returned from my final visit to see him a week earlier?). Anyway, the day of his funeral was surreal. Not only was I jet-lagged and in shock, but I somehow ended up having an imaginary conversation with my dad (that's right, the dead one). A couple weeks later I suddenly got an idea about another dead person who was watching their funeral and from there the story poured out of me. I finished it three weeks later, signed with an agent not long after and she sold the book two weeks after she submitted it. Sometimes it still doesn't feel real but there is no doubt in my mind that my dad managed to pull a few strings from up above!

It is no secret that I'm a MASSIVE Buffy/Angel/Firefly fan (and if you didn't know that, you would probably guess once you read ZOMBIE QUEEN OF NEWBURY HIGH since in a wild coincidence, so is my heroine, Mia. Go figure!). My other all time favorite television show that I can watch over and over again is Friends. It's just so funny and it never ceases to make me laugh - I'm all for the laughing!

I can't quite believe Amanda didn't mention her not-so secret-beloved, so because I am a very kind, sensitive CP I've posted up a naked photo here of David Boreanaz for her to drool over.

And of course Christina is almost beside herself with excitement now that I've finally seen the light and started watching Battlestar Galactica. What can I say about that show apart from the fact it's awesomely amazing (okay, I could actually say a lot more but then that would just set Christina off and in turn the world would see us for the couple of pathetic fangirls that we are!!!!! So don't worry, Christina - your secret is safe with me...)

I recently finished another young adult book about a girl who can see invisible killer fairies (and we're not talking Tinkerbell with a bad attitude) and now I'm working on a mid grade book which is lots of fun and I've only rewritten about one hundred times!!!

Is Your Heroine a Mary Sue?

I've heard of the Mary Sue term before. It's used to describe a heroine who is perfect and wonderful and probably picked on by other characters (even though, bless her heart she doesn't deserve it because she's so wonderful. Oh, and beautiful...) Apparently it's a wish-fulfilment character of 'all the things the author wants to be'.

Anyway, I have come across this before, but was reminded of it over the weekend when there was a blog post about it over at The Wild Rose Press. There were a couple of links to take a test to see if your heroine was a Mary Sue.

I suddenly had a panic attack. I'm so in love with my current hero and heroine that a very nasty thought occurred. Was my Carys really a Mary Sue?

OMG.

Well I got brave and did the tests and much to my relief scored round about 13 in both. In fact the results made me laugh as one site told me I needed to get closer to my heroine. Ha ha. If I got any closer there'd be legal issues.

Hi Nicola, thanks for popping by today! Can you tell us a little about your book?

'Two Weeks in the Magnate's Bed' is loosely linked to my recent Waldenbooks Bestseller, 'The Boss's Bedroom Agenda'. In 'The Boss', Lana is the heroine's shy, geeky cousin. She featured in several scenes and definitely had a tale of her own to tell, so I sent her off on a South Pacific cruise where she meets a very sexy, very enigmatic sailor.

Zac McCoy is a charmer and Lana is soon floundering out of her depth. But this Cinderella may just have a few surprises in store for her Prince Charming yet...

'Two Weeks in the Magnate's Bed' (Harlequin Modern Heat) is out now in the UK, will hit Aussie/New Zealand shelves in May and the USA, as a Harlequin Presents, in September.

How did the idea for the plot come about?

I love cruising and actually fell in love for the first time on one. It was a magical experience filled with romance so little wonder I had to write about it...and no, it's not autobiographical!

I love sale stories (ok I am just nosy!!) so can you tell us about your road to publication - and your call story?

I was working full time as a physiotherapist, had been for many years, and always used to say 'I'd love to write a book one day'. Was at work one day having lunch, got tired of saying it, so Googled 'romance writers in Melbourne'. Joined the Melbourne Romance Writers Guild, discovered there were people out there who loved writing as much as I did and I started submitting. My first partial, aimed at Harlequin Presents, was a positive rejection asking to see more work. My next partial...they requested the full...then 4 months later, I was home on a Saturday night, 5 months pregnant and dinner plans cancelled, when the phone rang. It was Kim Young from Mills and Boon! She said my voice was more suited to the Harlequin Romance series and requested a few revisions by the following Tuesday.

I did them, emailed the book off a day early and waited...A week later on the Monday, I was cooking dinner when the phone rang at 6.30. Hubby answered and gave me a thumbs up sign so I took the phone and...it was Kim saying she loved the book and wanted to buy it! I'm sure I repeated the word 'great' a hundred times during that first conversation!! Being an author is a dream come true :)

I've just finished revising my 20th book, a Modern Heat, and awaiting word from my editor. I'm about to start revisions on my next Harlequin Romance, 'The Dating Dilemma'.
Then it's onto writing something brand spanking new!

The Madness of a Romance Writer

Yesterday afternoon I was doing a bit of research on the net, and came across a piece on a Roman amphitheatre which was constructed in South Wales around AD80. Hummm, I thought idly, that's a bit late for my time period, but interesting nevertheless.

I kept reading, as you do, and the next sentence casually hopped forward a couple of hundred years, describing how everything fell into ruin after the Legion abandoned Wales and moved further north.

This most ridiculous pain stabbed through my heart, and I actually thought, Ohmygod, Maximus and Carys would have died and been buried and forgotten by then.

Yep. I sat there, reading this article, getting all choked up that my hero and heroine were now dead.

I was so distressed, in fact, I went and told my two daughters and husband who proceeded to gape at me as if I'd lost my mind. Then they looked at each other and did the eyeball thing (tell me you know all about the Eyeball Thing?!)

But I'm not mad am I? Because our heroes and heroines are real people, aren't they?!

How did the idea for the plot come about?

It took shape fairly quickly after Jennifer handed down the idea. I loved the thought of former lovers coming back together. I mean, how many of us have replayed the "what if" dream where an old flame comes back after years apart and everything just clicks into place like time has stood still? That's what I wanted for Luke and Cat. Their timing was off the first time, but they get a second chance -- and take every advantage of their time together. I was eager to write a story like this. I tend to "see" the hero first in my head, then I make the woman who can't resist him. *grin* Once I "saw" Luke in my head, their story simply flew from my fingertips.

I love sale stories (ok I am just nosy!!) so can you tell us about your road to publication - and your call story?

*grin* I honestly don't think that's nosy.. it's always interesting to hear the "call" stories. I love to hear them myself! I just wish mine was more exciting -- LOL! Ok, let's see. I've been writing (seriously) since 2000. I had recently rewritten my contemporary story, REASON TO BELIEVE (RTB) (the one I wrote under my real name, Leslie Ann Dennis) which began as a very sweet romance, but got a big shot of steam since erotica was gaining popularity. I figured the best plan would be to spice up RTB and pitch it to publishers of erotic romance. The first place I tried The Wild Rose Press' Scarlet line. Good news and bad news... the good news is the editor LOVED the story but, based on their definition of erotica, it didn't qualify. An erotic romance is one where the main priority is given to the sexual journey and the romance comes after. But RtB's primary goal was romance that also happened to have lots of sex in it. LOL. So... the Scarlet Line passed on RtB, but recommended it to the Champagne Rose line with a HOT rating (which it got). The editors at Scarlet liked my writing and asked me to pen a story for them and make the sexual journey the central point. I immediately got to work and they contracted THE PIRATE AND THE PUSSYCAT just two days after my birthday in July of 2007. So, The Pirate and The Pussycat was my first sale, based on the rejection of Reason to Believe by that line. (RtB was contracted the following month by Champagne Rose) :)

Fave books? Oh, that's a tough one! I'm afraid if I start mentioning books written by writer friends, I'll leave someone out and I'll be in the doghouse. So I'll suffice it to say ALL OF MY FRIEND'S BOOKS plus Richard Matheson's WHAT DREAMS MAY COME (the book, NOT the movie) and BID TIME RETURN (Somewhere in Time). I also love Brenda Joyce's "de Warenne Dynasty" series. TV Shows: Medium, Ghost Whisperer, Psych, American Idol, anything on the Food Network, Biography channel, History Channel.... I am very eclectic. LOL!Current fantasy squeeze... mmm.. that's too difficult. I develop crushes on all the hotties who audition for roles as my heroes. *grin*

What are you working on now?

Currently I'm working on another sexy Scarlet. I'm afraid I can't talk too much about it because I'm still in the "planning-scribbling-ideas-and-chucking-wadded-notes-across-the-room" stage. Can you tell us a little about your book?

Riding the Rail has a special place in my heart, since it was the first story I ever wrote, finished, and submitted.

Julian St. Clair and Serena Adams meet on a jam packed El train and share an erotic encounter. NO! Not that, get your mind out of the gutter!! Disconcerted by the experience, Serena makes a fast get away only to discover Julian and his partner Ryan are her 9:00 meeting and new clients. Serena tries really hard to keep her head on business, but it doesn’t quite work…

Julian is a great hero, he’s persuasive, smart, gorgeous, and down to earth. He doesn’t let the fact that Serena is ten years older than him stand in his way for even a second. Serena is very sassy, but befuddled over why this beautiful younger man, who can have anyone he wants, desires her. I think she’s very relatable, because most woman in there later 30’s (I’m 37) and 40’s, even while confident, would find themselves feeling confused.

How did the idea for the plot come about?

I got the idea for their story one day while riding a packed El on my way into downtown Chicago … and the rest as they say is history. I plotted out the whole story while smashed between a bunch of strangers. And for the record—not one of them looked like Julian.

I love sale stories (ok I am just nosy!!) so can you tell us about your road to publication - and your call story?

I was sitting home, during a rare occurrence when I was by myself reading emails when I got the email from Trish over at Wild Rose Press. First I read it about 15 times to makes sure I wasn’t misreading, then I proceeded to call every single person I knew and paced around my house like a mad woman. Lol, yes, I was very dignified and cool about it.

My favorite all time romance is Welcome to Temptation by Jennifer Crusie. If I ever run into Phin Tucker, watch out! My favorite movie is Pride and Prejudice, the original one and my current favorite TV show right now is True Love, but will be quickly replaced by Lost and Flight of the Concords when they return. My fantasy squeeze right now is Jon Hamm from Mad Men… if you’ve never seen him he is H-O-T, hot!

What are you working on now?

I’ve just sold a story to Liquid Silver books that will released in May of 2009 as part of their Hearts Afire series about Firefighters. Abby Simmons is a thirty year-old accountant with a To-Do list and her firefighter neighbor Luke Marlow is kind enough to help her out. ;)

I’m also finishing up a full length Single Title Contemporary about a Bad Boy bestselling author and a Feminist woman’s studies professor. I’m not quite sure where this one is going yet, but I’ll keep you posted.

How can readers keep up with your writing and books?

I’ve got all the usual places… I try and keep them updated, but sometimes I’m more successful than others. A girls got to have time to write you know!

Can you tell us a little about your book?

One Night in Memphis (Samhain Publishing) is a "24 hour" contemporary romance which takes place over a single day and night. That's right: 24 hours in 24 chapters. This is actually my second 24 hour novel; my first, One Night in Boston, was also released by Samhain and is currently available in print and ebook.

How did the idea for the plot come about?

This book is loosely based on an actual night in Memphis that my best friend and I spent after college. What a terrific city! I came up with the idea for a 24 hour novel about 4 years ago, when I was trying to think of a way to tell a love story that hadn't already been done 1000 times. So far, readers love the concept, and both books have gotten great reviews. In fact, One Night in Memphis has been named a finalist in this year's EPPIE Awards.

I started writing just after September 11th (which is another whole story), and my editor at Samhain picked One Night in Boston out of the slush pile about 5 years later. That book, my first, released in July 2007, and I'll have my 4th coming out later this year. It's been a ball so far!

Fave movies are any with a great romance (of course!) - ones that elicit tears are extra good :) When Harry Met Sally, The Lake House, Brokeback Mountain, Gone with the Wind, Life is Beautiful

What are you working on now?

I'm currently working on edits for One Night in Napa, my next One Night Novel. And I'm working on promotions for the print release of One Night in Memphis, which will happen later this spring!

Zombie Trailer

I'd always wanted to do a book trailer for Foretaste of Forever, but never got around to it. Mainly because I thought it would be Far Too Hard and I'm all for making life as easy as possible (which, obviously, is why I became a writer! ha ha...)

Anyway, my great mate and CP Amanda Ashby has just created an awesome trailer for her upcoming novel, Zombie Queen of Newbury High. She told me it was a lot easier than grappling with our respective websites (we both use Frontpage. Seriously, it's a wonder we have any hair left on our heads!!) Immediately intrigued, I hunted for Movie Maker on the computer (okay, I lie. I asked my genius daughter to find Movie Maker) and then proceded to have a play with my Demon.

OMG. It was soooo much fun and horribly addictive! I still have some tweaking to do, but am keeping everything crossed I'll have it all finished and ready to show next week.

Blogger Help.... Not Much

A week ago, I was suddenly unable to access a good friend's blog. Well, that was annoying but weird things happen in cyber space so I put it down to a temporary glitch.

The next day, still nothing. I'd reach the page and watch everything load in the nav bars, but then instead of seeing the Adult Content Warning I'd be left with a blank page.

Okay, not so temporary then. And as the week progressed I was denied access to a couple more blogs in exactly the same way.

By this time it's fair to say I was doing my nut!!!

In sheer desperation I went on my husband's computer. Not that I thought it would make any difference. And yet it did. I could access my friends' blogs without any problem at all (and thank god for that) BUT that's not the point!!!

Why can't I get on them from my computer?

Has anyone tried contacting Blogger Help? HA HA! There's a joke! I think I managed to send them something, but am not betting on it. So instead I had a look through their Forums and discovered others have experienced this problem - all stemming from the beginning of last week.

It seems some viewers have trouble accessing blogs with an adult content warning. It appears IE7 or Firefox Mozilla might eliminate that problem, otherwise the only alternative suggested was to remove the warning from the blog. My question is WHY??? Why has this suddenly become an issue and why the hell can't anyone contact Blogger (or Google or whoever runs the thing) to let them know?

Can you tell us a little about your book?

Stolen Birthright is the sequel to Savage Utopia. It is set in Australia during the 1840’s and tells the story of the impossible love between an English Aristocrat and the daughter of convicts.

How did the idea for the plot come about?

After I finished writing Savage Utopia, a story about two innocent people being transported to Australia as convicts, I wondered how this stigma would affect their children.

My sale story.

Well, after many years of disappointment, near misses etc. I received an email from Whiskey Creek Press, offering me a contract. I was so thrilled I didn’t sleep for a couple of days. About a week after that I received the offer of a contract from a different publisher, who unfortunately went into demise, but luckily I was picked up by The Wild Rose Press. So now I have two publishers, WCP and TWRP and 7 novels published, an 8th coming out in April 2009 and I have signed a contract for a 9th.

Favourite books, movies etc.

My favourite books are any historical romance, preferably with an Australian background.
I love the English detective/sleuth stories. Midsomer Murders, Taggert, also the CSI stories and Cold Case.

What am I working on now?

I am revising an historical romance set in Australia in the 1880’s. It is set against a background of outlaws and dark family secrets. The heroine is a girl with amnesia. It was a semi-finalist in last years Amazon Break Through Novel Award.

Can you tell us a little about your book ?

“Black Dragon’s Moon” is the second book in the series. I wanted to write a series about a group of people with special abilities because of eating dragon meat. Smarter, faster, and more intelligent; they live in a normal world but follow a different set of rules. Passionate about their jobs and the person they chose as their mate, they seek to find a balance in their life which will satisfy all their cravings.

Here is the blurb for the “Black Dragon’s Moon.” - Dee Butterfield, a Dragon Center agent, finally has the job she’s alway longed for. On her first assignment, she is assigned to protect sculptor, Scott VanHorn. His rich dragon blood tempts her to enter into an affair, which could not only jeopardize her career but possibly her life.

Scott determined to find out who killed his best friend, is helping the Dragon Center investigate a corrupt art dealer. Posing as a struggling artist, Scott can’t keep his hands off Dee and pursues her while they try to discover what happened to his friend.



How did the idea for the plot come about?

I enjoy collecting all type of art – originals and reproductions. The plot came from artists who sell their masterpieces by replicating them with sophisticated equipment. (Such as lithographs or sign and number prints) I focused on the questions of what if the artist didn’t agree or if they agreed to have them replicated and then wanted out of the contract.

Her assignment is to protect him, but he has a mission of his own.

His lips slid along the curve of her earlobe. He nibbled and toyed with her tender flesh. Hope pooled and seeped between her thighs. Thoughts of kissing him flooded her head with erotic ideas.

“Wanting you doesn’t discount the need to find the swindler.” He shifted back and twirled her around to search her face. “Is your level of dragon blood as high as Amanda’s?”

Her hands caressed the strong barrier of his chest. She enjoyed the crisp texture of his hair and the melting heat of his skin. The answer to the question held ramifications she didn’t plan to deal with. Their affair wouldn’t last long enough for her to fall into the hazardous state of pregnancy.

“It doesn’t matter. You’re not looking at me as a potential mate. We’re only here to have a little fun.”

His hungry eyes narrowed to small slits. “The terms of engagement?”

She stepped closer. Her silk covered breasts brushed his broad chest. The sexy purr of the fabric whispered between them. “I’ll be honest. I like the idea of making love to you, but I’m not interested in anything more serious.”

“No ties.” His burning gaze skated over her face, and his impatient hands gripped her hips. “Right?”

“Yes. To keep my job as a Dragon Center agent, I can’t get married.”

His gaze landed on her mouth and passion flared. A swipe of his tongue moistened his lips. The hands on her hips lowered to squeeze her backside and crush her into his rock-hard erection. She shivered.

“Just a little fun.” She worked her hands around his neck. “Agreed?”

His lips hovered within a breath of hers. “No.”



I love sale stories (ok I am just nosy!!) so can you tell us about your road to publication - and your call story?

You might say I was offered a challenge. I wrote the first book as a test to see if I could write erotica. When my publisher, TWRP put out a call for hot books, I took a chance and sent in my story. No one was more surprise than I was when it sold.

We are all about the love here, so please share your fave books, movies, TV shows or current fantasy squeeze (it's all in the line of research!).

I love the old movies, TV shows such as Chuck or Stargate. Favorite books are romance – no particular favorite. Fantasy squeezes can be viewed on my December blogs on Sexy Lady.

What are you working on now?

I started another series about shapeshifters. I’ve finished the first book “Banished Hero”, but again I plan on write a set of three books for the series.
