Marketing Summer Camp July 14th - 15th 2012

Need some ideas or information on the best ways to market and promo your books? Then read on!

Marketing Summer Camp is a free, two-day online conference designed to help authors learn the basics of marketing and promotion, and to fine tune skills already obtained. It will include guest speakers, pitch opportunities, prizes, top giveaways, and plenty of learning and fun. It will be held on the Yahoo group, Marketing for Romance Writers. Membership is open to published as well as non-published authors, editors, publishers, literary agents, author promotion services, cover artists, and virtual assistants. MFRW members are automatically signed up for Camp. If you want to take a particular course, read the messages posted with that title of the class. If you want to skip that class, don't read them. It's going to be that easy. Handouts and goody bags will be up for grabs once the conference begins. Giveaways include advertising packages, blog tours, and more. Discounts on services will also be available for all attendees.

PITCH APPOINTMENTS

There will be pitch appointments with multiple publishers for camp attendees. These will take place after camp so you don't have to miss classes.

Birthday Extravaganza!

Throughout the month of May Coffee Time Romance and The Romance Studio are having a birthday Anniversary Extravaganza! There are some awesome prizes on offer, with major prizes for the Scavenger Hunt being a Sony Wi-Fi eReader and a Nook Simple Touch for two lucky winners. There's also a blog event, anniversary party and CTR Forum event - and that's where I come in!!

During the second week of May, 12th to 19th, authors are having a celebratory bash, holding contests and questions and answer sessions and giving away all sorts of wonderful prizes. The fabulous Keri Arthur, fellow Dark Sider, will also be there on the 19th chatting about her books and giving away a signed ARC of Darkness Devours, among lots of other goodies!

Misbehaving Heroes

Oh whoops. Another week slipped by without me noticing! I'm a very bad blogger. But I've been busy writing, so I'm pleased about that and have just hit the 12k mark on my new novella. Currently the hero is misbehaving and my heroine is enjoying every moment.

I don't have a proper title for it though, which is a bit distracting since I usually need that in place before I can really get stuck into it. It does have a theme title, which isn't the same but appears to be working so I'm going with that for now. But I really want a rocking one before I sub, that sums up the story and catches the eye.


I've also now got my own group over at Coffee Time Romance. Yay! I'm a Coffee Corner Author!!! I'm so excited to have my own space over there. I haven't done much with it yet but I'm gradually moving in!

I'm Baa-aaccck!!!

Phew. Fingers crossed I'm back to normal now (not that my family would notice as they think I'm barking on the best of days!) I had to reinstall Incredimail after all, as the other email feature I had drove me insane. I'll just have to put up with the smilies which insist on attaching themselves to everything I send.

We survived the cyclone and ten foot waves although the weather is so dull and miserable it's just like being back in England in November! Shouldn't complain since it's been a gorgeous autumn so far. On the other hand I derive a great deal of pleasure from complaining!!!!!!!!

I realised this morning there's only a few more days left until Red Wolverton Howling finishes. This shocked me as I've kind of got used to hopping over to Coffee Time Romance and reading what's happening with the intrepid Carrie and her hot harem of sex starved males!!! However, it also means that somehow or other everything has to be resolved by 27th May and if you've been following the story you'll know there's a LOT to resolve!!! Any ideas, please jump in with the next exciting instalment!!!

Red Wolverton Howling! Paranormal Space Opera!!!

For the month of May, I'm helping my good friend the lovely Shelley Munro to host Coffee Write over at the CTR forums and I hope you can all stop by and join in the fun!!!

We've gone for a Paranormal Space Opera theme, and the title is Red Wolverton Howling (why does this make me think of Hugh Jackman...? *ponders*!!)

This is how it works. Shelley's posted an introduction, which sets up the story world and major characters, and the first paragraphs. Anyone can now post their own paragraphs continuing the story in any way they fancy - keeping in mind the basic intro!! You can post as often as you like during the month of May, but only once per day. This series runs from 1st May to 27th May.
