Plasticine Rules!

Well I just found out my fab CP Amanda entered her hysterical plasticine Zombie Queen of Newbury High book trailer in the You Gotta Read video contest for November - and forget to tell anyone. Whoops!!! So if you enjoyed the trailer and have a spare couple of seconds please pop over to the site and vote!!!

So has anyone seen New Moon yet? My three offspring were all over it on Saturday, and the younger two went again last night. I think the vote is firmly in Team Jacob!! not being a Twilight fan myself I'll wait until the DVD comes out. However, the other night I came across a site that displayed the 30 most disturbing Twilight merchandising. There was one thing there that completely floored me. Why would they be selling an open hamburger, and what did that have to do with the books or movies?

~*~* S P O I L E R ~*~*

OMG!!! Turns out it isn't an open hamburger at all. It's supposed to represent Bella's womb, complete with half vampire baby-creature-thingie in the middle. Gross is what I call it. Here's the link if you don't believe me!!!!!!!!!!!!

I voted. Amanda's trailer makes me laugh every time I see it. I haven't seen New Moon yet, but I suspect I'm going to be on Team Jacob...

Great good luck to Amanda and the Zombies!

I'm with you-- that womb sounds so gross I don't want to see it!

Hey Christina -- I'm not a Twilight fan either, but I can tell you without having read NM or seen the movie, I'm firmly on Team Jacob! Gotta love those wolves!

I'll go vote for Amanda, and then check out your hamburger link. Ick!

Hi Christina,
Yuck and double yuck. lol...If it's that gross I might see it later not just after breakfast. lol...

I'm a great fan of Twlight. Just love it to death. I will be seeing New Moon soon thank heavens.

Curiousity is my second name and I'll pop on over later this afternoon and take a peek.

I haven't read the books but I did see Twilight and I enjoyed it. That said, neither of the heroes do much for me, LOL And the hamburger patty...still laughing at that one!

Best of luck to Amanda! :)

LOL! Yeah, I've seen that one linked before. That whole scene from the fourth book sounds pretty darned disgusting, and I have no clue how they're going to do any of it in a film targetted at a teenage audience. [blinkblink]

The best way to catch up on the whole Twilight thing is to read Cleolinda's commentaries:

Her Movies in 15 Minutes summaries are excellent, but even the less formal recaps and discussions are good (and funny).

BTW, I'm Angie Benedetti from RTB; I'm subscribing to your blog so I'll know when your ancient Rome books come out. [smile/wave]

Angie, thanks for dropping by!

I haven't read the books, but my kids love them. What I found most disturbing about that scene from book 4 (I was given all the gory details by my 15 yr old son!) was how my kids didn't appear to think there was anything wrong with it!!!

Christina -- I think that's exactly the problem, yes, the normalization of some things I consider pretty awful. Not just things like the birthing scene, the idea that of course every young woman should think going through that is perfectly normal and romantic, but things like Edward's stalkery behavior (breaking into her room to watch her sleep every night??) and the however many months of complete spirit-death level depression Bella went through when he left in the second book, to say nothing of her near suicidal attempts to get him to come back to her. I'm sorry, that's not normal and it's not romantic, and the idea that young women (much less women my age) are sighing and fluttering over this stuff is something I find very disturbing. :/

I watched the Twilight movie and thought the way Edward used to stare at Bella from the corner of her bedroom pretty creepy, not endearing, but my two girls thought it very romantic *sigh*
